Who we are
Thank you for visiting us! We’re a congregation of around 320 families situated on the picturesque North Antrim Coast of Northern Ireland. Our parish bounds include parts of Portballintrae and Bushmills and the surrounding countryside as well as some of Ireland’s most famous attractions, not least the Giant’s Causeway and the Old Bushmills Distillery. Many families have been members here for generations. Other people – married or single – have only recently joined. Then there are the “Friends of Bushmills” – the numerous holidaymakers who visit us at all times of the year. Together we worship Christ in traditional ways, while also using the best in contemporary music and modern technology. Our weekly bulletin, recent sermons and the Congregational Mission Plan are available on the Bulletins and Resources page. We seek to serve and honour Christ in our lives and in the local community. Whoever you are, you’re most welcome!
The present minister is the twenty-second in the congregation’s long history the Rev’d Dr Nancy Cubitt, who was installed in February 2015.
There are 18 serving Elders in the Kirk Session who supervise the spiritual needs of the congregation. The Clerk of Session since 2010 has been Mr Robin Gordon. The Moderator of Kirk Session is the Minister. Standing Sub Committees of the Kirk Session are: World Mission Group and the Youth and Children’s Ministry Group.
All elders are ex officio members of the Congregational Committee, which also comprises a further 18 members who collectively look after the fabric and finances of the congregation. The Hon Secretary of Committee since 2007 has been Mrs Dorothy Eslor. The Chairman of the Congregational Committee is the Minister. Standing Sub Committees are: Finance; Fundraising; Property; and Health and Safety.
